Society and subsidence

The last day of TISOLS2023 is dedicated to the interaction between science and policy. Land subsidence is a global problem. We need scientists, policy makers, decision makers and other experts to team up and come with approaches strategies and solutions. The aim is to exchange Dutch and international experiences and best practices to learn from each other.

Who: (inter)national scientists, experts, decision makers and policy makers
Costs: 50 euro including lunch and land subsidence excursion, the fee is included in the TISOLS2023 full programme fee.

13:00 – 15:30    Afternoon program

  • Matchmaking Mackathon in cooperation with scientists and policy makers

Organized discussions in groups on subjects such as:  Fissures and sinkholes; GHG emissions from subsiding peatlands; Strategies and pathways for subsidence; Energy transition and subsidence; Coastal lowlands, delta’s and sea level rise; Geodata

  • Panel discussion with experts: International approach vs Dutch approach

15:30 – 17:00    Land subsidence city walk tour Gouda and visit Knowledge Centre Subsidence & Foundations
